Nelly: An afternoon with Nell Gwynne A one-woman folk musical - a work-in-progress

 —  —

Number 28, 28 Market Place, Belper

Nell Gwynne is the classic rags-to-riches story of a woman born into poverty who ended up being the most famous woman of her day. An orange seller at the theatre, she became its leading comedy actress and then mistress to King Charles II. And she was funny. And how. Samuel Pepys called her “pretty witty Nell”. It’s said the whole world knows Nell Gwynne. Our play tries to show you why.

Come and see how we’re getting on!

Words by Graham Hopkins.

Songs by Jo Freya; Robb Johnson; Reg Meuross; Lucy Ward; Boff Whalley; and Dave Wilson
